About our property line mapping serviceThe property line mapping service we offer is made possible by first-of-its-kind software developed by Joseph Elfelt, the owner of PropertyLineMaps.com. Joseph is also the owner of MappingSupport.com and the developer of the Gmap4 enhanced Google map viewer which is popular with a wide range of outdoor recreationists.
Anyone can use the Gmap4 map links we produced that display public land maps. These maps are a public service and part of our way to "pay it forward". Each map can display various data overlays with information useful to people that enjoy the outdoors. If you look at any of those maps, be sure to click "About this map" in the upper left corner in order to see the map legend, learn how to turn overlays on/off and get other useful tips for using the map.
Joseph's father taught him to read property legal descriptions while he was still too young to drive. After working as a software developer for Boeing, Joseph returned to his interest in land and worked as a professional real estate investor. During this time he analyzed a vast number of legal descriptions and manually mapped many of them. This background in both software and property legal descriptions enabled Joseph to produce the unique software that this service uses to provide approximate coordinates for your property corners.
The property information that you supply plus our own online research is used by our software to produce the corner coordinates. The online research we do will vary depending on the circumstances. This research may include accessing databases or GIS systems maintained by the federal Bureau of Land Management, state government and/or county government. No one piece of information is used alone to determine your coordinates. Instead, our proprietary software advances state-of-the-art by letting us process all this information and supply you with property coordinates that are as accurate as possible without hiring a land surveyor.
But please keep one thing in mind. Joseph is not a land surveyor and the coordinates that you purchase from us and the maps displayed by those coordinates do not constitute a land survey. If what you really need is a survey then our service cannot help you and your only option is to pay the money and hire a licensed surveyor.
